Welcome to the Exiled Saint
The Exiled Saint allows me to voice my personal observations on the fortunes of my favourite football team, Southampton FC, as well as my other interests, photography and travel.
If you're no longer living on the South Coast or if you're a fan of Southampton Football Club living abroad, then I hope you'll find The Exiled Saint useful for some background information and views on Southampton FC.

Backstory - The Saints
Should you have stumbled onto this website in error then perhaps a little background might be useful. Southampton Football Club was formed in 1885 by members of the St Mary's Young Men's Association, based at St Mary's Chruch, who played their games on the banks of the River Itchen, one of rivers which form the port of Southampton. In 1894 they joined the Southern League as Southampton St Mary’s FC. However, to their fans they were always known as "The Saints".
Shortly after joining the League they moved to a brand new ground costing £10,000; a fortune in those days. It was called The Dell and it was where they were to remain until 2001 when they returned close to their roots to a new 32000 capacity stadium called St Mary’s.
After some twenty-eight years in the England’s top echelon the Saints were relegated and have been in the Coco-Cola Championship League for the past few seasons. We supporters are confident that this season will see our return to Premiership.
Exiled Saints
Along with my wife Gill, I am retired and now live in a North Shropshire village in the English midlands . Prior to moving to Salop, (Shropshire’s other name), in May 2006, we lived in Southampton and later near Salisbury, Wiltshire. Hence, our interest in Southampton FC.
I’m an amateur photographer; love travelling and am a keen hobby cook. Gill is a big England cricket fan, enjoys gardening and reading. However, our principal love is football (soccer) and with Tim, our son and Teri, our daughter-in-law, are season ticket holders and die-hard supporters of The Saints (Southampton FC).
Non-football supporters may think we’re more than slightly crazy. However, it is our view that in life one may change one’s job, politics, religion, and/or spouse, but never change your allegiance to your football team.
